Today’s guest is David Fields, Co-founder & CEO of Wander, an innovative internet service provider startup. Prior to founding Wander, David spent much of his career in the investment and acquisition space. He worked with Michael Eisner and Bob Iger while at Disney and was the sole analyst on the Pixar acquisition. He spent 7 years as the Head of Acquisitions & Investments at The Tornante Company, a company started by Michael Eisner.
On the show, we learn what insights he gained while having proximity to these business titans. He counts Eisner as a personal mentor and shares many valuable learnings he picked from him. David Fields shares why he values intellectual curiosity, why Walt Disney valued creativity more than anything else, and why Michael Eisner believes great brands are like a pointillist painting.
We also dive into his learnings as an entrepreneur, including where the most valuable feedback comes from, why putting money into something doesn’t correlate to the outcome, and why he believes it is better to be unique at something than to be the best at something.
